Clondalkin Youth Band

Clondalkin Youth Band

St. Patrick's weekend is one of the busiest weekends of the year for any marching band in Ireland! On St. Patrick's day the band made their yearly appearance in the Dublin parade and won the title of Best Youth Band, beating many visitors from around the world that also took part. After that, it was straight onto the buses to take part in the parade being held in Lucan that afternoon. Sunday saw the band taking part in the marching band festival competition in Limerick city competing against bands from all over Ireland and the visiting bands from around the world who travel each year to Ireland to take part in the various festivities. CYB won the title of Best Irish Band after wowing the crowds with very the very lively music of Thriller!

Congratulations to the winners of our yearly fundraising raffle. The prizes were drawn after the parades on St. Patrick's day and all winners have been notified.

25 years of making music and friends were celebrated by Clondalkin Youth Band in 2011at a special reception in the Green Isle hotel in Clondalkin. What a fantastic night! It was great to see so many ex band members from over the years and catch up with everyone. A great night was had by all. A big thanks to all involved in organising it and everyone who has supported the band over the years. A big thanks also to Bill Cullen and our local business supporters whose support over the years has helped the band go from strength to strength and so have helped to spread the name of Clondalkin internationally.

Marching with over 100 members, this includes new members marching for the first time with the band and helping to put on a great show! Whats happening next? Definitely no resting, St. Patrick's day is coming up fast with preperations for new pieces of music to entertain the crowds and the 47th IABCB National Band Championships. This year the competition will be held in the Cork school of music on the 14th and 15th of April.

After that? Time to really concentrate on perfecting the show for the summer season!
